Reviving Wagner 1053F Casting Flaws Thread
« Reply #1 on: December 16, 2013, 07:43:35 PM »
Shortly before the old forum went away, I saw Ken Davis's request for photos of Wagner pie logo #3 skillets with #1053F. He was looking at a pattern of casting flaws in Wagner #3 Pie Logo skillets with the F marking.  At the time, I had a pie logo skillet in the lye bath that I thought might fit his criteria.  Sure enough, mine was a 1053F with the same casting flaw.

I tried copying the posts from the old forum but all I could get was the text, no photos, so I'll let that go.

But I can post a new photo here for Ken of my flawed 1053F.

Thanks, Cheryl.

Corinne, you interested in selling that little beauty? I've decided that 1053s with that particular set of flaws are going to be my "niche". Yours would be number three in the collection if we can come to a deal.   :)

Sure, Ken, I wouldn't mind parting with it either for swap or sale.  I'll pm you and we can figure out a good arrangement.

I just saw this Wagner #3 pie logo 1053F on ebay (for a ridiculous price!). Ken, the fine details are hard to see but this looks like your casting flaw. The $100 BIN price is crazy, but it's free to look at the picture. 8-)

Thanks, Corinne. I've been watching several of those with outrageous prices. I've seen some as high as $150!    [smiley=yikes.gif]

I'd love to corner the market on those with that particular pattern of flaws ... but not at THOSE prices. One thing to note ... I haven't seen a single one of them sell for those prices. The sellers seem perfectly happy to hold them and re-re-re-re-list them.

at those prices, i figure they really want to keep them and don't want to sell them.  :)

I've paid as little as $8 and as high as $30 ... just to have another. $30 is about my limit unless it's in VERY good shape.

I also paid $20 (+ shipping) for mine, and was very pleased. I've wanted one of those cute little #3 pie logos ever since I started on cast iron, but was NOT willing to pay the prices that most were listed for on eBay.  Patience paid off!

Mine's a plain 1053 with no letter after the number.

I paid $15 for my #3 Wagner Pie logo.  I have a collection of 16 different Wagner #3 styles, of which I have paid an average of $10 plus shipping for each.
