Canada iron copied from the US?
« on: December 25, 2014, 11:37:20 AM »
I had seen a griswold waffle iron at a local antique mall when first getting into CI, asked the GF to pick it up for me but she said it was gone when she got there. Didn't know anything about the iron, and didn't get any pics, oh well. Anyhoo, it was part of my christmas gift - she convincingly lied.

It's a slant number 8 gris. Like this... Now I know it's not worth that money, but mine is too dirty to take pics of...

Curiosity, the two McClary waffle irons I have are very, very similar. Bases are near identical to each other, handle on the base is a match, just a little smaller. The hinges and lock are the same, the platters are very similar layout.

Looks like Gris had the patent on the hinge locks...

After the wagner waffle iron cleaning fiasco this summer, I had told her I never wanted to see another waffle in my life. Guess she was nervous giving me the Gris last night  ;D It's heavily crudded.
