It was listed as an "open roaster" Never saw one, or even heard of one, so of course I had to buy it. Reminds me of an oversized gravy boat.  ;D

Hello Chuck. On second thought I think that little piece with the one handle on the end, thats for a one armed man.

Somebody needs to tell us the story here of why Cheryl about had to take a man out as she was standing the bed of the F150 pickup truck. What about that story. We'd like to hear it.  :)

Chuck I believe the piece you got is from Germany and I think it is called a boaster and not a roaster like we call them. Check out Germany or Yugoslavia Cast iron. I have two of them and one has the lid  One is enambel ware and not cast iron and the other one is cast iron but porclean lined on the inside. Let me know what you find out about them

Can't find a thing on them Lee. Maybe if Joel Schiff comes along he can spread some light on them. I loves this unusual stuff and seems to know what's what with it.
Funny thing is, I've never seen one before, found this #2 yesterday, and then found a #5 this morning at the flea market. Slightly different design, but still the same purpose.

And I actually did something I am not known to do in the Auction setting...

Danced a little jig over my first #14... :D

So Cheryl, did you pay over $100 for it? I picked one up just like it this summer for that princely sum.

No Steals, few deals, and very few bargains to be had....

My definition of a bargain is if you would purchase the piece again if you had it to do over again.

Hello Jim. I agree with you here. And I would also add that, if they had another one for the same price you would have bought it as well.

When I ask Joel what something is, his answer is always long drawn out. Not to mention, (pay attention Tim, this is important).

I have one of these and I asked Joel what is was. I don't recall but a fraction of  it's history.

Opposite the loop handle is the pour spout. I don't remember if it had a lid, but I believe Joel said that it is a duck roaster.

A 'duck roaster' huh Jim. I like to ask sellers about a deep skillet and they tell me its a 'chicken fryer'. And I look at them and tell them I'm really looking for something I can fry squirrel in. Your 'duck pan' reminded me of this.  ;D
