Griddle ID needed pls
« on: February 07, 2014, 02:28:29 PM »
I've seen the same handle on some skillets shown here,  but can't seem to find the thread,

Any ideas on the maker?

Only have photo of top right now, should have bottom later tonight

thanks

and there's also a #14 like this one seen  on e-bay  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Vintage-12-Cast-Iron-Round-Griddle-With-Wire-Bail-12-/151222658579#ht_25wt_1182

Nice looking griddle... LOVE the handle on it.  I've no clue who made it, and if there are no markings it will probably always be a mystery.

Thanks  Sandy

they have  a no name Wagner piece,  a  WagnerWare  Sidney -O- ,  as well as another I can't remember,  but  I liked the handle on this one

$25 plus shipping, I guess it's sort of worth it

Those old gate marked pieces are among my favorites. The US probably had hundreds, maybe thousands of little foundries at one time, and most never marked their pieces. When ever I see one of those at a good price I pick them up, just love the design, and the lightweight. Easily over a hundred years old.

Looks like another one of those upside down handles.              [smiley=Drunk.gif]

Man, you've got good eyes Dwayne, I couldn't see the gate marks until it was cleaned up. [smiley=knielen001.gif]

Nice find Mike!

I'm considering this old griddle,   it's marked with  78  on the back and gate marked,

what are the odds it means  1878 piece?

Thanks

The 7/8 is more than likely the size stove eye this piece was made to fit.

Will fit a 7" or 8" eye hole on a stove.

Thanks guys,  That was the other thought I had, just  forgot to mention it in my post,,

They wanted $45 + shipping,  was a little out of my price range anyway,

BUT  I did find two other pieces, at  1st lady said no to shipping,  but  I may have worn her down  lol  $12  for both plus shipping

this is the one I'm more interested in
