Jerry, Griswold made that iron for the Wm. M. Crane Co..  I don't know the relationship between Griswold and Crane but Griswold would make iron for other companies to order.  The iron would probably be worth a little less than a Griswold marked iron.  Are there any warps on your irons?  In the photos they don't seem to fit together snugly.  If excellent, around $50 -80.   They make great waffles and are easy to use.

Just another opinion but IMO these waffle irons bring $30 or so. Steve, do you know what business Wm. M. Crane company was in?

Well, I think you got a good buy.  I don't know about value.  It's not one of the popular names that people collect, but I would say $30-50.

Don't know Harry.  I thought I had researched it on Google but there is nothing include on the foundry page.  We don't have this iron on the foundry page and it would be nice to add it if Jerry would permit.

They had something to do with natural gas.   But I haven't found what.

But they were sued by Strause Gas Iron Co.   Any idea what they made?

Here is a trivit by the Strause company.

Other than the markings the irons are exactly the same as an 885/886 iron and the frame is the same, too.

Jerry,
The foundry page that you can see as a Visitor is a VERY small portion of what we have as members of WAGS.  The small list that I have up for visitors/guests is to let you know what else members have access too.  This company has been on the members list for a long time.

Thanks for giving us permission to archive your pix.  We have a huge list of foundries, etc. on the list for archival purposes only.

Each name on the "foundry list" is not necessarily a foundry or maker but those names shown are names that show up on iron cookware pieces.  Many, such as the W.M.F Co are not manufacturers of the cookware but happen to have their name on them for whatever reason.  It would be interesting to know how many iron cookware FOUNDRIES there were from c.1840 (roughly the beginning of the cookstove) to 1960.

Jerry, I'd be happy to sponser you if you want to put my name in the blank.

really don't need a sponsor, if you don't know anyone that is a member.  That part of the form needs to be modified.

Hello Jerry, welcome to the other side. We're just a friendly bunch of people who share a common interest and ain't afraid to talk about it. I hope you put me down as a sponsor.

Greg Stahl said he'd give me a thousand dollars or five pieces of cast iron out of his collection, my choice, for every person that put my name down as a reference. ;D
