SR and Co. Griswold made cornbread pan NO. 1270
« on: June 03, 2017, 11:01:04 PM »
I have seen it listed anywhere from 60 to 275 dollars. Cleaning it up right now, really doesnt need much, looks beautiful i think. Thanks for any pricing info!

Found it at a little peddlers row by my house for 7 dollars ;)

 • I don't collect waffle irons; they just show up.

If there's nothing the matter with it, you did extremely well for only $7.00.

The old yellow book listing for these was $90-$110.  I think that the yellow book has most items listed pretty high if anything, and unless things have changed, Griswold-made muffin pan prices were a little depressed for a while. Still, I don't think it's unfair to say that you may have gotten it for one-eighth or one-tenth its common price.

(Which is why I'd want to be extra sure that there really wasn't anything wrong with it.  If not, run like you stole it, 'cause you did.)

So, it's cleaned up, and I'm 90% sure, but wanted to ask you guys, this is a casting flaw right? It doesn't show on the other side.

If you are asking about the horizontal mark just above Wheat Stick then in my opinion that is a casting/mold flaw and nothing to worry about.

I'm talking about the mark that runs from top to bottom of your picture, on the underside of and roughly perpendicular to the cups.  I still agree with what Valerie said about it, I'm just not sure she and I are talking about the same marking.

I only noticed it on the spot I mentioned but after looking again I see the continuation of the mark below and above but to me it is still just a casting flaw and nothing to worry about

Looks like sand shift inside the mold when pouring... I vote casting flaw. :)

Bought for 7 dollars, sold for 85, I done good! Poor little girl at the peddlers row booth looked at me funny when I literally fumbled my wallet to pay her lolol.
