Griswold #5 2005 hammered but not hinged skillet
« on: January 07, 2015, 02:50:59 PM »
I just picked up a Griswold Hammered #5 skillet that doesn't have the hinge tab.  It is numbered 2005 instead of 2015.  I had the idea that these are very rare, and I paid a pretty good (high) price for it.  My question is, how rare are they really?  And what would you estimate the value of it to be?

Rare? No. You paid a "high price". I don't know what a "high price" is because you didn't say a number. I will say, these "grooved handle" pieces in the hammered version are popular. It seems people like the look of hammered anything. Kinda like in the real estate business, "curb appeal". Remember that "high price" can mean something to you and something entirely different to someone else.
Hold still rabbit, so I can cook you.
