Griswold #14 718 with 474 lid
« on: February 02, 2014, 01:36:54 PM »
Ran across one of these big bad boys in great shape fully marked,
Big block logo. Skillet has the heat ring.
Being new to this I know the big ones are pretty rare and ebay is all over the place on the value.
And I don't have my books on hand.
The guys asking $400. Any input ? Lol.

The inside is. The top of the lid has nothing on it.

I would offer 300.00 the smooth tops bring about 200-250 the 14 skillet brings about the same

Awesome thanks. I don't guess I've saw a marked lid on the outside yet.

There is one on ebay right now, a number 14 skillet and lid. But its not a 'real' Griswold. Its a Wagner made Griswold. And by the way the bidding is going the bidders don't know. There is a difference. This one pictured right here is the real deal. And has been said here, if this was the fully lettered lid, 400 would be a very good price.

Lol. Wel that's good to know. I'm prolly going to hit him for about $300 as mentioned and see what happens. Would be an awesome piece to have. Especially for my area. You never see any big ones

Very easy. It does not say 'Erie, Pa' on it. When Wagner and Griswold operations were merged, Wagner continued making Griswold pieces, but they took the 'Erie, Pa' off the patterns that they modified. And the one I referenced in the ebay auction is even much later than that because it shows the size in inches, which was done much later by Wagner. The 'true Griswold' pieces were made in Erie, Pa by Griswold Manufacturing Company. The Wagner made Griswold pieces are good pieces, and they are nice and they are collectible, but they ain't Griswold. And some folks are duped into believing otherwise. Don't be duped, they are not as valuable.  ;)
