i have been tripping over this for 20 years in my barn, and i finally decided to clean it up and cook out of it. under the lid it is stamped#12 and 13 1/2 inch, the lid has dimples on the bottom of it in a round pattern, the handle is thicker on one side the pot has a flat bottom, with made in usa on the bottom edge, it has a pour spout
and directly across from it is a lug, i guess to hold on to as your pour
the pot handle is wire,bent around the lugs on the side. i have pinged both peices and they are very sound, the lid fits very snug. my wife remembers this pot all her life as she grew up so it is at least 50 years old
is this a wagner?

Welcome.   You can post a picture of it and we will.   Most stuff marked made in the usa,  was made post 1960's   So your pan is at the oldest,  about 48 years old.

It sounds like a Birmingham Stove & Range Co. piece, but we will need a photo to be sure. Is it close to this one?

 or like a belly button, an innie or a outtie  
my lid is in.   i would post a picture but i don't have a digital camera
i'll see if i can borrow one.    yours is a lot better shape, its clean
mine is really not that bad, i am anxious to clean it up

duke.. j.fred muggs is not the real name, it is a name used to keep id theft at bay.  most people don't know who j fred is. but i see that on this forum, i am not dealing with kids. i have actually been told that the the group wings came before the beatles!.  or that jethro tull was a actual person, and ian anderson ...who's he....

If the dimples are innies,  it is a BS&R   Birmingham Stove and Range.

somebody told me that before wagner was bought up by griswold?
that they made some peices that did not have there named stambed on it
around the 58-60 period, and that the number and size being stamped togather, was proof that it is that area peice. this is just what i was told.
but ...i am looking at a #8 that is a brother to this.
opps..........i just found the 12 stamped on the bottom across from the made in usa

Close,   Wagner was bought first,  by Randall.   Griswold was bought by McGraw.  Wagner bought out McGraw in 1957.   But Wagner was already a division of a bigger company,  and so was Griswold.   So,  did Wagner buy Griswold.....really,  yes,  but no.   After that date,  Randell sold out and they sold out, and then they got sold again.   And everyone of the buyers marked pans the same  and some differently.   We have a good idea what mark is with who and when,  but lots to type here... ;D

  LOL  i went to biringham site,  and it sent me right back here.  ;D
 that was a good one :D.   so you say birmingham 60's area.
so i guess nailing it down to a year is not going to happen because of the confussion of all the switching back and forth.
is it worth more than free? cause thats what i have in it.
and its part of the family, its not going anywhere

Sorry,  I am not the BS&R expert.   There are few on here that eat sleep and sh&$ BS&R that can help out more.   BS&R never went into Griswold or Wagner.  

Value is probably $20-40 ???   Worth something,  as it was made in USA!!!!!!

Brian, Knew that it was BS & R but also knew who J Fred Muggs WAS. :-/ Figured he could not use a PC from chimp heaven ;D
