Hello Laura......First off, WELCOME to our WAGS forum.  You have found a site that is full of friendly people with a lot of knowledge and information to share.  Hope you come back many times.

The Griswold Coffee Grinder that you have is listed in "The Book of Griswold and Wagner" by David Smith and Chuck Wafford, commonly referred to as "The Blue Book" on page 156.  It was produced Circa 1920's and is valued at $1200 to $1500.  I do not have any of the Griswold coffee grinders or coffee roasters.  There are some in our group that do collect these and may be able to give you a realistic value to your grinder.  Sometimes the book values are high, and then sometimes they are low.  It is a good starting off point though.  Does your grinder still have any of the gold trim left on it???  Anyway, you have a nice piece of Griswold there.  Are you looking to sell it, or are you going to use or display it??  Do you collect or use any other cast iron??  Hope this helps a little......Don't be a stranger...come back and visit some more.

Scott

Edit......In comparing yours with the one in the book, yours seems to maybe have a little more markings.  The one in the book does not have "ERIE" on the top grinding dome.  Your lettering on the catch door is arched, where as the one in the book is in four straight lines of lettering, and also has a black pull knob.  So, maybe this is a variation that is not pictured in the book.  Value???  Could be higher or lower....I just don't know.

From what I have found out, this variation is the earliest because of "ERIE" on the bean door.  Now, if you had the original tin cup that came with the grinder I would estimate it to be worth around $1500+.  No cup, knock off about $500. in value.  Whether you get that kind of $$$$ for it in today's market is questionable.

Concur with John. I got the Black and gold version with the cup. Works like a champ. You tend to see more of the red/orange than the black. Noce piece. Too bad the cup is missing.

TThanks very much for the warm welcome and the great info! I actually would like to sell it for the right price of course. Is that allowed on this site? And where could i do that? Thanks again! I do also have the Griswold #14 Skillet block letters with heat ring that I'm cleaning up and getting to sell also!

Hi Laura......You could post both items in our "ItemsFor Sale" section.  You will either have to set a price or negotiate with those that are interested.  Pictures would be a big selling point.  It is not like an auction, although it is open to both members and non-members, so the exposure would be limited to those that use this forum.  Hope this helps.  It is always nice to give the serious collectors the first shot at purchasing the nice collectable items.

Good luck with it,
Scott
