Gloves
« on: September 15, 2016, 04:43:25 PM »
Hello, I have some Tucker BurnGuard gloves and they are rated up to 450 degrees. I would really like to get something rated higher for seasoning. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

I use these. I season my iron 480-510 range and these work great.

Granted, you can't hold the iron for more than 10-15 seconds, but I don't know of a glove where you could do that. Welders gloves maybe, but you still won't be able to hold iron that hot very long.

The reason I like the ones I linked to is they are very cost efficient. A set will usually last me for a couple months before they're worn out, but I'm cleaning 5-10 pieces a week.

I have the ove gloves or equivalent as a liner for leather grill gloves. The grill gloves have a gauntlet that helps against incidental burns.

I just use towels folded over in halve, then into quarters.... haven't found a glove yet that works for me.... http://www.samsclub.com/sams/white-hand-towel-16-x-27-12-pack/prod7380328.ip

Janis, I have welder's gloves, which are great but you have about 15 seconds before even they get too hot.  They are also bulky but I will take that over a burn anytime.
