Could this be an old Lodge
« on: June 27, 2021, 12:13:51 AM »
I picked up this one for $17.50 knowing from the style it was old, but it was very crusty. Does anyone have an idea what it is?

Some years back, there were thoughts that these might be pre Lodge Blacklock. :scratchchin:
Do not know if it was ever for sure a proven fact though.

As Duke said, there's a lot of speculation that it could possibly might be a Blacklock, but as far as I know there is no definitive evidence out there of what the Blacklock's looked like-- from what I've read it was one person making a guess and then it spread like wildfire. I've seen these commonly referred to as Initial Skillets, due to the the 2 large raised letters on the back. Either way, I'd pick that up for $17.50 no questions, as they are interesting, distinctive, have a certain mystique around them, and of course seem to be well made.
