Restoring a Lance Jar Lid
« on: September 11, 2017, 11:04:26 AM »
I have a friend that collects bottles and Jars and he had an old Lance jar with no lid and had looked for one for years.  He told me if I every found one to get it for him.  I finally found one in horrible condition and restored it for him. He was happy, and thats all that mattered.

Holy smokes Jerry that's beautiful.  :o

He ought to give you free Lantz crackers for life and that's just for starters. He will surely be well pleased with what you have done for him.

Here is a picture of the top side of the lid and how pitted it was after electrolysis.

That turned out great

Standard solvent based enamel after applying Primer.  After that cured, I put a couple of coats of Clear, Pre-Catalyzed Lacquer.

Great job on it Jerry.  That looks perfect.

Hey Jerry, I saw this Lance “Honor System” display rack, thought about this thread, and figured your friend might like to see it. The sign at the top says the original sign was in the display case. I looked for it in their cases, but couldn’t find it. I think the rack was marked as “sold”, so maybe the buyer took the sign and was coming back for the rack.

Spurgeon.....My friend would have been interested to say the least, but unfortunately he died a few years ago.
