For Those Members With Verizon Email Addresses
« on: May 30, 2017, 07:26:58 PM »

You may or may not be aware that the great and mighty Verizon is in the process of divesting itself of providing email services to paying customers of Internet services, and is getting out of the email provider business.

(or so they WANT you to believe)....  pssst...

READ ABOUT IT HERE

.... OF course Verizon ALREADY owns AOL)

Of course, this cutting of services to established customers, who are no longer receiving these services, which they have paid for, will not be receiving any cost savings for getting less from Verizon. Still get to Pay the same Exorbitant Rates!

and of course, it is being spun that after all, you are now getting FREE email.

Dirty little secret here is..  that the FREE AOL is bait to get you to subscribe to the PAYING 'real' email client.........  talk about bait and switch.

https://discover.aol.com/products-and-services

Just took me awhile to finally find any 'PRICING'

http://get.aol.com/plans/index.php

So on Friday, I had 9 email accounts migrated from Verizon to AOL.

And you have not heard much from me since then, because
84 hours later,

I have finally gotten my Third Party Mail Clients to work.

Windows Live Mail AND Microsoft Outlook were both toasted, because.....

They had no clue what the correct settings should have been for POP3 on third party mail clients.

<i.e.  incorrect port settings, incorrect server settings, and more>

All of the Tech Support data provided by both Verizon AND AOL support was incorrect.
All instructions resulted in nada, and eventual Windows SYSTEM problems that required a full System Restore to 10 days ago.(Day 3)

In the interim, I bypassed the POP3 Client issues, by setting up IMAP accounts for EACH of the 9 email addresses, on both Third Party Mail programs.

Now, take this problem, and multiply by 3 Desktop Computers, 1 Notebook Computer, one IPad, and 3 Iphones, and you get a bit of a sense of why I have 'almost' lost my mind....... :D :D

So... if you have VERIZON services.. run screaming to another provider.

If you have not migrated to AOL yet and you decide to, you may want to put my number on speed dial, and forget everything(or most) of what they have told you.

OH, yes, that reminds me...... on Friday, I also changed my Verizon FIOS phone number BACK to the previous phone number that I had. (2.5 years ago)... had that previous number for 42 years, and the NEW home phone number never worked correctly... never displayed my name on caller ID correctly, etc.

So... after another hour on the phone TODAY with TECH SUPPORT regarding my FIOS phone services which were NOT working properly...
I think I am wayyy... beyond..... DONE WITH VERIZON !!!

Rant ended for now... To Be Continued again I fear.... Maybe tomorrow...?

And I didn't even get into the loss of all Internet and Phone Services on May 17 which required service Repair calls to replace that old ancient Network Interface Box which resulted in loss of Services and hours on the phone with Tech Support. That bad interface box was only... hmmm... 5 years old.
During the outage of over 24 hours (for which NO CREDITS were ever issued) I made another baffling discovery......

When Hot spotting my computer WIRELESSLY off of my Iphone, I had FASTER speed and Browser page loads than my wonderful supposedly 'blazing' fast FIOS Internet.... What the heck???  Caught them out in more Secrets and Lies......... >:( >:(    Then after the 'repair' I had another 14 hours of not usable FIOS Internet, because the idiots assigned me a new BUSINESS IP address... I am residential.... and my internet was worthless due to software conflicts with packet exchanges, etc....

FIOS is Verizon's Fiber Optic System, Their version of a bundle of Telephone,Internet and TV based on a Fiber Optic transmission system.

Many years ago when we had a dialup connection we had Verizon and Netscape, When we switched to Comcast/cable modem it was the best thing we ever did, I choose who I use as a browser, Currently I use Google Chrome as a browser but use outlook for email, I am thinking about switching to BRAVE as my browser and am still researching it.

I refuse to pay for an email service or a browser when they are so many free services out there.

Of course I only have a desktop and a laptop, I refuse to own a cell phone and my home phone while wireless I do have a hardwired corded phone as a backup for when the power goes out.

Technology....Yes...great when it works

Well in my area Verizon sold out to Frontier. But the FIOS is ok I get great speed. The other choice is Charter  :P

For email accounts remember there is always Google GMail it's free and you can have multiple accounts.

Ok, question. If WAGS has my official email as Verizon, and I now no longer have Verizon email, who do you tell what the new email is?

Claudia, If you have a new email address, PM me with it and I'll change it on the records.

Also, you may want to visit your profile and change it there.

Thanks Sandy. I forgot it was even in my profile. I changed it there but still kept it hidden from public.
