Sam Roberts
Mar 28th, 2015 at 12:49am

Sadly I've received word that Sam Roberts passed away last week:

Sandy, With a heavy heart, I want to inform you and all of his WAGS friends that my brother Sam Roberts passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, after a long illness. He kept  his loving, caring nature and his love for cast iron until illness took away his  keen mind.  He will greatly be missed by all who had the privilege to cross his path.  He was truly a person that I was blessed to call my brother and my friend.  Thank you.  Sam's sister Irene

Here is a link to his obituary:

Rest in peace, Sam, you're a good guy.

Yes I remember Sam well. I talked to him on the phone a few times in fact. He was a nice man and loved to talk iron. We still have the work that he done restoring a Griswold stove, you know, one of the counter top ones. He stripped one down and gave a step by step on how to do it. He will be missed. May you rest in peace Sam.

Like everyone else, I will miss Sam! Really appreciated his conscientiousness, & having stopped seeing him at some of our get-togethers a while back, kept hoping that he would always be 'at the next one'
Sorry to hear it! & Best to your sister & the rest of your family…

Sam was a good one, every time I would post a scalloped Lodge or hammered Lodge I found he would always let me know if I didn't want it he did. He loved his cast iron and he will always be in my heart as a good man.

That Sam was quite a collector now. He had some camp ovens that were so big that it took two men to put them in place and even then they had to drag them. Now THATS a big camp oven.  Shocked

Oh I am so sad to hear of his passing at what I feel is a very young age 64.

I always felt he was our expert on Lodge.

I'm certainly going to miss him.

RIP Sam, and condolences to the family.  Though only knowing him through the Forum he was a wealth of knowledge particularly with Lodge.
